Design Aesthetics

The Mchose G98pro takes bold design choices, offering multiple theme options to cater to diverse user preferences. Whether it's the Frosty Orange variant with Snow Tiger switches or the Cloudy Blue version featuring Chain Cheng switches, this keyboard beautifully marries retro and modern styles. The main body is available in black and white, while our model, the Blackberry Pink theme, showcases a striking black-to-pink gradient with translucent keycaps, adding a unique touch.

Layout and Features

The Mchose G98pro maintains a 99-key layout, featuring a delete key at F3 and a dedicated Home-End configuration at the top right. The left side incorporates a large switch design for easy mode switching, while the right rear sports a magnetic metal nameplate. A storage compartment for the 2.4G receiver and a Type-C port are conveniently located in the middle. The bottom design includes a standard two-position foot, and a PVD metal nameplate distinguishes the G98pro from its predecessor.

RGB Lighting and Switches

Regarding RGB lighting, the Mchose G98pro offers a balanced brightness, with three switch options designed for light diffusion that enhance visual appeal. Our experience included the Konot's "Tofu" switch V2, featuring a 45g actuation force, 1.9mm pre-travel distance, and 4mm total travel distance, making it a tactile choice for typists.

Typing Experience and Larger Keys

The typing experience on the Mchose G98pro benefits from Miten's proprietary satellite switches, providing crisp bottoming and rebound with factory lubrication—no wire sounds or rattling here. The keycaps are made from factory-height PPT material with a double-shot translucent design, offering a smooth, matte texture.

Keyboard Height and Technical Upgrades

The front height of the Mchose G98pro is 18.5mm, a 1.5mm reduction from the G98, making it more comfortable for extended typing sessions with factory-height keycaps. Additionally, the G98pro incorporates Top Speed technology, significantly reducing wireless latency and enhancing the gaming experience.

Disassembly and Internal Structure

Upon disassembling the Mchose G98pro, we discover a long-slot design on the PC positioning plate that adds softness to the keyboard's feel. The internal shell is secured with silicone sleeves on small tabs, while a thick EPDM switch seat foam and silicone pad cushion the bottom. Inside, you'll find two lithium battery compartments with a total capacity of 8000mAh. The PCB features precision-made switch sockets and five-point reverse lighting, with a single-key slot design allowing for secure attachment to the positioning plate.

Conclusion

The Mchose G98pro offers significant improvements over the G98, notably in wireless latency and keyboard height. These enhancements are beneficial not only for gamers but also for users who type for extended periods, providing a more comfortable wrist position. While personal preferences may lean towards the Chain Cheng switch, the Kailh Snow Tiger switch—with its all-POM construction and distinctive sound profile—is also a noteworthy option to consider.
